AI bookkeeping software that does the whole job.

CodeIQ learns each client's ledger, codes every line, classifies VAT, catches transfers, matches invoices, reads every receipt — then posts the finished books to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or Pandle, or keeps them in IQ Books, the self-running ledger it was built into. № 06 · Rules vs learning

Beyond bank rules

Bank rules are written by hand, one at a time. CodeIQ reads the GL history and infers them for you. Hundreds. Instantly.

Bank rules

  • Written by hand, one rule at a time
  • Rigid if-then logic: breaks when the description shifts
  • No notion of amount bands or supplier variants
  • Have to be maintained per client, forever
  • Tops out at a few dozen before maintenance eats you
§ Manual · brittle · per-client

CodeIQ historical learning

  • Reads your GL history and infers patterns automatically
  • Learns merchant variants, amount ranges, supplier aliases
  • Every correction you make becomes a permanent override
  • Scales to thousands of patterns per client with no effort
  • Equivalent to 500+ bank rules, configured in under two minutes

№ 16 · Common questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers on posting, accuracy, security and what it replaces.

Does CodeIQ actually post transactions to my accounting software?

Yes. This is what makes CodeIQ different. After the eight core phases code your transactions (up to eleven with RiQ's second-pass review), CodeIQ can post approved batches to QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or Pandle via secure API connections.

Your routine coding work is handled in one flow, with exceptions pulled forward instead of buried in a spreadsheet. Other tools make you click "Approve" hundreds of times; CodeIQ narrows the work to what needs judgement.

How accurate is CodeIQ's autonomous coding?

CodeIQ is strongest on repeat merchants and learned patterns, where historical matching becomes highly reliable. New or ambiguous transactions are marked for review instead of hidden.

The system uses eight core phases, up to eleven with RiQ review, including:

  • Universal patterns. 16,773 crowd-sourced patterns from all CodeIQ users.
  • Historical patterns. Learns from your past coding decisions.
  • Semantic analysis. Local 107MB fine-tuned embedding model.
  • RiQ enhancement. Our AI copilot reviews low-confidence coding at 17 transactions per second.
  • Invoice matching, transfer detection, MCC categorisation, and more.

The system learns from every correction, improving over time.

Can accounting practices use CodeIQ for multiple clients simultaneously?

Absolutely. CodeIQ supports 10 concurrent sessions, allowing practices to process multiple clients at once.

Each session completes in under 2 minutes, making it possible to handle dozens of clients per hour with zero manual coding.

This scalability lets you grow your practice without hiring extra staff. CodeIQ handles the data entry, ReconcileIQ the verification, LedgerIQ the insight layer.

Which accounting platforms does CodeIQ support?

CodeIQ offers direct API integrations with:

  • QuickBooks. Journal entry posting with bank reconciliation.
  • Xero. Bank transaction posting with contact matching.
  • Sage. Transaction formatting and posting.
  • Pandle. Full posting pipeline with transfer handling.

Each platform has a dedicated posting service that handles its own requirements: VAT codes, multi-currency support, vendor/customer matching.

Is my financial data secure with CodeIQ?

Yes. CodeIQ uses bank-grade security:

  • AES-256 encryption for all data at rest and in transit.
  • OAuth2 authentication for platform connections (we never see your passwords).
  • Isolated environments for transaction processing.
  • Automatic deletion after the 24-hour session expires.
  • GDPR compliant, your data is never shared with third parties.

All processing happens in secure, isolated environments with enterprise-grade encryption.

How long does setup take?

Initial setup takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes:

  • Connect your accounting platform via OAuth2 (one button click).
  • CodeIQ automatically syncs your Chart of Accounts and VAT codes.
  • Upload your first bank statement.
  • Review the exceptions. CodeIQ prepares the coding and posting workflow.

No training required. No complex configuration. Just connect and go. One OAuth connection powers the whole IQ Suite: ReconcileIQ, CodeIQ, LedgerIQ and PrepIQ.

Can CodeIQ replace Dext or AutoEntry for invoice data extraction?

Yes. CodeIQ includes built-in invoice OCR extraction powered by RiQ Vision. Drag and drop PDFs, PNGs, or JPGs, it extracts amounts, dates, suppliers, invoice numbers, and VAT automatically with confidence scores.

Extracted invoices are matched against bank transactions for one-click payment posting. No separate subscription to Dext (£24+/mo) or AutoEntry needed.

Does CodeIQ handle eBay, Amazon, PayPal and other sales platforms like Stripe or Etsy?

Yes. eBay, Amazon and PayPal are auto-detected and parsed into individual journal entries, sales, platform fees (final value, FBA, promoted listings, subscription), shipping, refunds and tax withheld. Any other sales platform works too: drop a Stripe, Etsy, Square or Shopify statement and RiQ maps the columns for you to confirm.

Each line is AI-categorised against your chart of accounts with platform-specific context. Everything posts alongside your regular bank transactions, one review, one posting.

This replaces dedicated tools like A2X ($29—229/mo per channel) and LinkMyBooks (£13—249/mo), included in every CodeIQ plan at no extra cost.

One automated bookkeeper. The whole job.

CodeIQ does the books. ReconcileIQ ties out the bank. LedgerIQ explains the numbers. PrepIQ prepares the year-end. All four are native in IQ Books — or standalone on the software you run now.

The platform behind CodeIQ

CodeIQ doesn't have to be a bolt-on.

You know CodeIQ as the bookkeeper you add to Xero, Sage or QuickBooks. It's also native inside IQ Books — our own double-entry ledger, where the coding, the bank reconciliation, the analysis and the year-end are all built in. Nothing to connect, nothing to sync.

Already running CodeIQ on a client's Xero? IQ Books can become their ledger from the same connection — the accounts, banks, invoices and history come across with them.
