How to Convert a Truist PDF Statement to CSV or Excel
Truist is clear about how long statements last and silent about how to export them. The gap between those two things is this page.
Truist publishes the retention schedule properly
Credit where it is due. Truist states, in one place, exactly how long each product's statements stay available — which most US banks do not.
| Product | Statements available |
|---|---|
| Deposit and brokerage accounts | Up to 7 years |
| Credit cards | Up to 2 years |
| Home equity lines, personal loans, auto loans | Up to 24 months |
| Mortgage and trust accounts | Up to 18 months |
Truist also says the figure for your particular product can be found in Online Banking under Documents, which is where statements live.
Note how the ordering runs against intuition. The mortgage — the account with the longest life and the most consequential paperwork — has the shortest statement window at eighteen months. If you will ever need mortgage statements for a tax position or a refinance, they age out faster than anything else you hold.
Quick answer: find your product in the table, pull the statements from Documents before they age out, and convert them so the data outlives Truist's window.
And then goes quiet about export
For small business online banking Truist is specific: download or print up to 18 months of account history, including images of paid checks and deposit tickets, and connect to QuickBooks, AccountEdge, Zoho Books and Xero.
For personal online banking, no Truist page we could reach names an export format or a date range at all.
Two figures circulate that should be treated carefully. A claim that Truist's CSV export caps at 18 months is real, but it describes small business account history and the separate PortfolioView wealth platform — different products from personal online banking. And a claim that Truist keeps 18 months of eStatements contradicts Truist's own disclosure, which says seven years for deposit accounts. If you see either applied to a personal checking account, it has been transplanted from somewhere it does not belong.
Converting the statements (4 steps)
- Find your product's window
Truist retention varies from 18 months to 7 years depending on the account. Check the table before assuming. - Open Documents
Statements live under Documents in Truist Online Banking. Truist states that the length of time each product's statements stay available can be found there. - Download the months you need
One PDF per statement period. - Convert them
Go to reconcileiq.com/bank-statement-converter, upload the statements, verify against the statement totals, and download the CSV.

The wealth platform is a different product
Truist Wealth clients use PortfolioView, which is a separate system with its own rules, and mixing the two produces confusion.
PortfolioView can print and save account, asset and transaction information as a CSV or other spreadsheet file, and it holds up to 18 months of historical online statements as PDF. Its viewing window is stated as the current date, daily for the previous 60 days, or by month for up to 18 months, and Truist describes it as something you use from a laptop or desktop.
None of that describes personal or small business online banking. If you bank with Truist on the retail side, PortfolioView's capabilities are not yours.
What comes out
Truist publishes no annotated sample or statement-reading guide for personal deposit accounts, so this page does not describe its column layout. Its one published statement guide covers commercial account analysis, which is a fee breakdown rather than a transaction register.
The converter returns a consistent shape regardless: one normalised sortable date column, descriptions rejoined, one correctly signed amount column, and the running balance kept separate from transaction amounts.

It depends on the product, and Truist publishes the full schedule: up to 7 years for deposit and brokerage accounts, up to 2 years for credit cards, up to 24 months for home equity lines of credit, personal loans and auto loans, and up to 18 months for mortgage and trust accounts. Truist also notes the specific figure for your product can be found in Online Banking under Documents.
For small business, Truist states you can download or print up to 18 months of account history and connect to QuickBooks, AccountEdge, Zoho Books and Xero. For personal online banking, Truist names no export format on any page we could reach, so we are not going to state one. Check the format options in your own account.
Truist states up to 18 months of account history for small business online banking, including images of paid checks and deposit tickets. That is a different figure from statement retention, which runs to 7 years on deposit accounts, so the two should not be confused.
Truist names QuickBooks, AccountEdge, Zoho Books and Xero for small business online banking. On the wealth side, PortfolioView is a separate platform that can save account, asset and transaction information as a CSV or other spreadsheet format and holds up to 18 months of statements.
Your first statement of up to 10 pages converts free on a new account. After that it runs on credits, with the cost shown before anything is processed. Files are uploaded and processed on our servers rather than in your browser, which is what allows scanned and photographed statements to work as well as native PDFs.
